MBA Opportunities for GSB Graduates

One of the ways that successful community banks are meeting today’s challenges is to assure that they attract, retain, and develop knowledgeable managers and future leaders. Professional development through executive education is an essential strategic tool in retention and personal growth.

Recognizing the appeal and value of an MBA, the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has joined with leading graduate business schools to offer a combined accredited MBA program. The course of study combines GSB’s Graduate School of Banking program with the MBA program of either the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management (UMass) or the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). MBA options are offered on-line and boast unique advantages over traditional classroom-only programs. GSB graduates will receive advanced standing in either of these outstanding MBA programs.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

This unique MBA program is a two-part curriculum.

PART ONE – The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

The first component of the program involves completion of the GSB Graduate School program. This program, which focuses on bank management, consists of three resident sessions coupled with intersession assignments. Each resident session uses case studies, group projects and discussions, and computer simulations to expand class lectures and readings. Intersession assignments apply the learning to one’s own bank.

Detailed information on the GSB Graduate School of Banking program can be found by clicking here. You may also view a short video overview here.

PART TWO – Choose the MBA program that’s right for you

The second half of the program is specially designed to complement the banking school experience. Qualified GSB graduates are given advanced standing in the programs listed below. Each of these programs has distinctive qualities and high accessibility. And, by providing credit for work done at the Graduate School of Banking, they reduce the time required to earn an MBA. Two MBA options are currently available to GSB graduates:
